NMFC 29640 - Steel Boxes, KD Flat | Class 70

To find the correct freight class for your shipment:

1. Use this code when shipping steel boxes knocked down flat and bundled in packages; note “NMFC 29640, Boxes, steel, NOI, KD flat, in packages, Class 70” on the BOL.
2. Unitize KD bundles on sturdy 4‑way pallets and protect sharp edges with angle boards; band at least twice crosswise and twice lengthwise to prevent slip.
3. Keep bundles uniform in size and weight to allow safe stacking; mark “Do Not Top Load” if panels may buckle or deform under pressure.
4. Photograph the packaged bundles before pickup and record piece count and total weight to avoid accessorials and reclass disputes.
