Note 35256: NOTE-Articles tendered for shipment on lift truck skids, pallets or platforms must be securely fastened to and must not overhang the edges of the lift truck skid, pallet or platform deck. Exposed surfaces and edges must be protected by packing forms or other packaging materials so as to withstand the normal rigors of the less-than-truckload environment.

To find the correct freight class for your shipment:

1. State the longest piece length, total bundle count, and “Railings, NOI – NMFC 35255” on the BOL; add clear handling notes like Do Not Stack for long members.
2. Package by material: palletize wood with banding and edge guards; use A‑frames or pipe racks for steel/aluminum rails; bag and shrink-wrap brackets and fasteners separately.
