Classification Details

NMFC Description Class
35325.00 Seals or Sealing Material, double pane window glass, extruded rubber or plastic, with wire core, frozen, see Note, item 35327, in boxes 100

Notes

Note 35327: NOTE-Applies on sealing material in extruded strip form, used to convert single pane windows to double pane (insulated) windows, shipped in a frozen state to prevent catalytic action.

How to Determine Your Class

To find the correct freight class for your shipment:

  1. Pack extruded seals flat or coiled inside sturdy boxes with corrugated dividers so wire-core sections do not kink; add poly liners to prevent sticking as product thaws.
  2. Maintain the “frozen” rigidity for warm routes with gel packs or insulated liners when needed; keep cartons off heat sources on docks and trailers.
  3. Choose cartons that match the cut length or coil diameter to avoid bending; for example, 48-inch sticks ride well in double-wall cartons with corner foam rails.
  4. Print the BOL exactly: “NMFC 35325 – Seals, extruded rubber/plastic with wire core, frozen, in boxes – Class 100” to prevent reclass and speed cross-dock handling.

Note: All classifications are subject to Item 170. Verify with official NMFC publications for the most current requirements.

Business Value

  • Fixed Class 100 gives predictable LTL pricing without density calculations, simplifying rating and avoiding surprise adjustments.
  • Boxed packaging and frozen rigidity lower deformation risk, cutting OS&D claims and replacement costs for glazing contractors and window OEMs.
  • Clear NMFC language on paperwork reduces inspection delays and keeps freight moving through busy building-materials terminals.
  • Non-hazardous status avoids hazmat fees and special handling, enabling wider carrier options and better transit times.
