How to Determine Your Class
To find the correct freight class for your shipment:
- Box or crate metal dispensers and holders (towel, tissue, napkin, seat-cover, wax paper, film/foil) with edge guards and foam to prevent dents and scratched finishes.
- Secure doors, latches, and mounting brackets with tape or zip ties; bag loose hardware so fasteners don’t shift and damage powder-coated surfaces.
- Palletize boxed or crated units upright; band and stretch-wrap, then mark orientation and Do Not Stack to avoid latch misalignment during LTL handling.
- Do not mix coin-operated models in the same line item—this NMFC applies to non-coin units only and rates at a fixed Class 92.5.
Note: All classifications are subject to Item 170. Verify with official NMFC publications for the most current requirements.
Business Value
- Predictable rating: fixed Class 92.5 removes density calculations, speeding up quotes and reducing reclass fees.
- Lower OS&D risk when boxed or crated properly, protecting hinges, doors, and finishes on restroom and foodservice dispensers.
- Non-hazardous status streamlines documentation and carrier acceptance for multi-location rollouts and facility upgrades.
- Clear scope (metal, non-coin) minimizes disputes with carriers, improving billing accuracy and freight audit outcomes.
