How to Determine Your Class
To find the correct freight class for your shipment:
- Use corrugated boxes only; line with polybags to prevent ink rub-off and moisture wicking. Avoid mailers or totes since this item class specifies boxed packaging.
- Pack by item type: fold aprons and bags; pair gloves; keep visors and mats flat with chipboard pads to prevent creases. Example: 200–300 small items per 24x16x12 box, as weight allows.
- On the BOL, describe clearly: “Cloth items printed with advertising, prepaid – NMFC 4745, Class 100.” This helps avoid reclass and speeds dock checks.
- Palletize with tight stretch wrap and corner boards. Place heavier cloth mats low and lighter bags/aprons on top to prevent compression and carton bulge.
Note: All classifications are subject to Item 170. Verify with official NMFC publications for the most current requirements.
