NMFC 50140 - Defoaming Compounds | Class 55–70

To find the correct freight class for your shipment:

1. Verify the product fits “Compounds, defoaming” and review NMFC Note 50142 to confirm it’s rated under 50140, not a different process chemical.
2. Weigh each sealed box and total the shipment; the weight-driven rating places it between Class 55 and Class 70. Include dunnage and inner packaging in the gross weight.
3. Use leak-resistant inner containers (e.g., HDPE bottles or jugs) bagged inside corrugated boxes with absorbent liners, tight closures, and orientation labels for liquids.
4. Add handling cues like “Protect From Freezing” for emulsions that can separate in cold, and include an SDS for reference even though the commodity is non-hazardous.
