How to Determine Your Class
To find the correct freight class for your shipment:
- Pack sheets in sealed inner bags or shrink-wrapped cartons to prevent drying; use moisture-barrier liners or 2-3 mil poly where possible.
- Palletize cartons in tight, brick-stacked layers with corner boards and a top sheet to avoid crush and keep the boxes clean for retail.
- Mark cartons as Personal Care, Non-Hazardous, and add lot codes and expiration dates to satisfy salon and retail distribution checks.
- Quote at Class 125 with box packaging noted; provide carton count and total pallet cube to control capacity charges and stacking decisions.
Note: All classifications are subject to Item 170. Verify with official NMFC publications for the most current requirements.
Business Value
- Fixed Class 125 simplifies pricing across SKUs, reducing reclass risk and accelerating quote-to-booking.
- Non-hazardous designation avoids hazmat surcharges and broadens carrier selection for nationwide LTL coverage.
- Boxed, sheet-form product stacks efficiently, improving pallet density and lowering cost per delivered case.
- Clear NMFC mapping (58680) cuts inspection delays, enabling faster cross-dock flow into salon chains and retail DCs.
