How to Determine Your Class

To find the correct freight class for your shipment:

  1. Print NMFC 63570 and Class 70 on the BOL, describing the commodity as e‑liquid/e‑juice, boxed, non‑hazardous; keep an SDS on file to support non‑regulated status.
  2. Use leak‑resistant primaries (sealed caps with shrink bands), poly‑bag each inner, add partitions and absorbent liners, and place in double‑wall corrugated boxes.
  3. Verify formulation is not DOT‑regulated (check SDS for alcohol content and flash point). If regulated, review related items 63571 or 63572 before tendering.
  4. Unitize cartons upright on a pallet with corner boards and tight stretch wrap; avoid overhang and mark This Side Up to limit leak and crush damage.

Note: All classifications are subject to Item 170. Verify with official NMFC publications for the most current requirements.

Business Value

  • Avoids hazmat surcharges and specialized paperwork since this item is non‑hazardous when boxed as described.
  • Fixed Class 70 simplifies rating, yielding predictable LTL quotes and fewer reclass penalties.
  • Standard box packaging expands carrier acceptance and reduces claims tied to leaks or broken bottles.
  • Clear, single‑item classification speeds quoting and dispatch, improving tender-to-pickup cycle times.
