How to Determine Your Class
To find the correct freight class for your shipment:
- Use NMFC 65920, Class 100 on the BOL; choose Packages as the packaging type and list counts (e.g., 1 carton—automatic livestock sprayer).
- Before packing, drain tanks and purge spray lines; cap all ports, bag loose nozzles, and zip-tie moving arms so nothing shifts in transit.
- Select a double-wall carton with foam blocking for single units or a small wood crate for heavier pump assemblies; shield control housings and sensors.
- Palletize multiple packages, keep cartons within the skid footprint, add corner boards, and stretch-wrap; mark Up arrows to protect spray heads.
Note: All classifications are subject to Item 170. Verify with official NMFC publications for the most current requirements.
Business Value
- Fixed Class 100 enables predictable LTL pricing—no density calculations or reclass risk across different sprayer models.
- Non-hazardous status avoids hazmat surcharges and special paperwork, lowering total landed cost.
- Clear packaging requirement (packages) speeds dock handling and reduces OS&D on delicate nozzles and pump heads.
- Single classification covers dairy, poultry, and swine applications, simplifying procurement and multi-site freight planning.
