How to Determine Your Class
To find the correct freight class for your shipment:
- Bundle uprights, yokes, and rails separately by size; use banding with edge protectors and cap sharp or threaded ends to prevent punctures.
- Palletize KD bundles on 4-way skids; block and brace long pieces in the center, avoid overhang, and stretch-wrap to protect galvanized or painted finishes.
- Label each bundle with piece count, bundle ID, and KD; include a simple parts map so barn crews can reconcile at delivery.
- When possible keep longest bundles under 96 in to reduce additional length fees; list NMFC 66040, Class 70 on the BOL for faster quotes and claims.
Note: All classifications are subject to Item 170. Verify with official NMFC publications for the most current requirements.
