How to Determine Your Class
To find the correct freight class for your shipment:
- Ship in tight wrapped bundles as listed; keep the paper or plastic film intact to prevent loose straw and snagging during LTL handling.
- Palletize bundles in a single, stable layer with light compression only; add corner boards and a top pad to reduce crush on lightweight forms.
- Use additional stretch wrap or a breathable overwrap when humidity is high, and keep units off the floor to avoid moisture wicking into straw.
- Mark cartons or bundles as “Florists’ Forms—Fragile/Crushable” and choose wide straps over thin twine to avoid cutting into the wrap.
Note: All classifications are subject to Item 170. Verify with official NMFC publications for the most current requirements.
Business Value
- Fixed Class 200 rating—no density calculations—means faster quoting and fewer reclass fees for seasonal florist supply moves.
- Non-hazardous status streamlines carrier acceptance and reduces special handling surcharges compared with regulated materials.
- Bundled-wrap packaging lowers damage risk from snagging or shedding straw, cutting claims and replacement costs.
- Consistent rating supports predictable LTL budgets for distributors supplying event florists and craft retailers.
