Note 90391: NOTE-Applies on soapstone or talc blocks, pieces or slabs, boxed or other than boxed, secured and oriented diagonally or vertically on lift truck skids, pallets or platforms or shipping carriers or racks.

To find the correct freight class for your shipment:

1. Package slabs and blocks on sturdy pallets or A-frames; add foam between layers, edge guards, and two steel or heavy poly straps to prevent chipping and shift.
2. List piece count, max dimensions, and actual scale weight on the BOL; include skid/crate weight and mark center-of-gravity for forklift safety.
3. Label the freight “Stone—Soapstone/Talc, NOI, NMFC 90390,” note “Do Not Stack” and “Keep Dry,” and use corner posts or top cones to deter top-loading.
4. For jobsite or residential deliveries, request liftgate or forklift accessorials in advance and confirm carriers can handle heavy, fragile stone handling units.
