How to Determine Your Class
To find the correct freight class for your shipment:
- List NMFC 118280, Class 125 on the BOL and specify packaging as boxed or crated; note if the unit is a factory model, vending combo, or sidewalk cart.
- Prep equipment: cool and unplug, empty oils or kernels, remove or secure kettles, glass panels, and coin mechanisms; bag loose parts and lock doors before stretch-wrapping.
- Mount to a sturdy skid or fully enclose in a wood crate for long hauls; use wheel chocks on hand-drawn carts and brace the frame to prevent roll or tip.
- Label upright orientation and center of gravity, add Do Not Stack cones, and request liftgate or inside delivery if shipping to storefronts or venues.
Note: All classifications are subject to Item 170. Verify with official NMFC publications for the most current requirements.
Business Value
- Fixed Class 125 rating streamlines quoting and lowers reclass risk, keeping LTL pricing predictable.
- Crating fragile glass and electronics cuts damage claims, often offsetting the crate cost on high-value poppers or vending combos.
- One NMFC item covers poppers, peanut roasters, and combined vending machines, simplifying paperwork for multi-location rollouts.
- Non-hazardous status speeds tendering and avoids hazmat fees, improving transit reliability for retail and event deployments.
