How to Determine Your Class
To find the correct freight class for your shipment:
- Quote and book using NMFC 123470, Class 92.5—no density calculation needed; list this NMFC on the BOL to avoid reclass charges.
- Protect process ports and branches: cap or plug every opening, brace long nozzles, and wrap flanges; use skids with saddles or V-blocks to stabilize round headers.
- Create forklift access and mark center of gravity; band the header to the skid with steel or heavy poly strap and block against rolling during transit.
- If previously in service, drain and purge, label 'clean and dry,' and include drawings or port maps so carriers handle lift points correctly.
Note: All classifications are subject to Item 170. Verify with official NMFC publications for the most current requirements.
Business Value
- Predictable pricing from fixed Class 92.5 reduces reclass disputes and surprise invoices.
- Damage prevention through proper capping and bracing lowers replacement costs and project delays.
- Faster quoting and scheduling—no density proofs or complex reweigh audits required.
- Machinery Group familiarity among carriers can improve handling and transit reliability for manifolds.
