How to Determine Your Class
To find the correct freight class for your shipment:
- Print the BOL line exactly as: “Masking Units, Package 2357 – NMFC 15880 – Class 200” to avoid carrier reclass or inspections.
- Use double-wall cartons with foam cells or honeycomb dividers so face cages, shells, or visors can’t rub or deform during transit.
- If crating, secure each unit with non-abrasive ties and block-and-brace away from sidewalls; avoid tight banding directly over mask frames.
- Palletize with no overhang on 48x40, add corner posts and a firm top sheet, and label Do Not Crush/Top Load Only for rigid shells.
Note: All classifications are subject to Item 170. Verify with official NMFC publications for the most current requirements.
Business Value
- Fixed Class 200 rating simplifies quoting and removes density calculations, speeding up LTL rate requests.
- Package 2357 recognition reduces inspections and exception charges, improving on-time performance for team and retail replenishment.
- Damage prevention on high-visibility parts (visors, cages) lowers claims and preserves margin on seasonal sports demand.
- Consistent classification across boxes or crates streamlines mixed-SKU outbound loads for distributors and pro shops.
