How to Determine Your Class
To find the correct freight class for your shipment:
- Verify the units are non-electric and ship them dry; exclude medication cartridges or liquids to stay within this NMFC listing.
- Use sturdy corrugated boxes with foam, dividers, or molded trays to protect nozzles and valves; add orientation and fragile labels on each carton.
- On the BOL, write: “NMFC 17750 – Atomizers or Nebulizers, other than electric, boxed, Class 100,” and include piece count and total weight to prevent reclass.
- Provide box count, dimensions, and weight for carrier planning even though density isn’t required; e.g., 10 retail cartons nested in one master carton, taped seams, no poly mailers.
Note: All classifications are subject to Item 170. Verify with official NMFC publications for the most current requirements.
Business Value
- Predictable pricing: fixed Class 100 eliminates density disputes and reduces unexpected reclass fees.
- Non-hazardous designation widens carrier options and avoids hazmat surcharges, streamlining tendering.
- Boxed-package requirement supports palletization and stackability, cutting damage risk and claim costs for delicate spray mechanisms.
- Single, specific NMFC listing speeds quoting and onboarding for clinics, distributors, and OEMs moving replacement units or demo kits.
