How to Determine Your Class
To find the correct freight class for your shipment:
- Secure removable parts before boxing: bag bolts and clips, strap wheels and trays inside the carton, and immobilize the frame with foam or honeycomb corner blocks.
- If crating, block and brace the carriage/go-cart to stop handlebar and wheel movement, and line contact points with cushioning to prevent rub-through.
- Palletize boxed units to avoid crush damage; strap around the pallet and use corner boards so straps never bite into the carton.
- Mark orientation and stacking limits clearly (This Side Up, Do Not Stack) and note “Baby Carriage or Go-Cart, Boxed/Crated” on the BOL for proper class selection.
Note: All classifications are subject to Item 170. Verify with official NMFC publications for the most current requirements.
