How to Determine Your Class
To find the correct freight class for your shipment:
- Record exact length, width, and height including the tongue and any sideboards, and provide a verified weight for the assembled unit or each palletized section.
- Secure for LTL by strapping the frame and tub to a sturdy skid, blocking wheels, and capping hydraulic ports; pad sharp edges and label lift points.
- When shipping assembled, coordinate a forklift-capable pickup and specify tie-down locations on the BOL to manage the wagon’s higher center of gravity.
- If shipping disassembled, bundle axles, drawbar, and body as one shipment; tag each piece with the same reference and use banding that can be inspected and resecured.
Note: All classifications are subject to Item 170. Verify with official NMFC publications for the most current requirements.
Business Value
- Fixed Class 100 eliminates density math, speeding quotes and cutting reclass exposure.
- Predictable rating supports tighter budgets and easier lane comparisons across LTL and flatbed options.
- Clean NMFC alignment improves claims defensibility and reduces surprise reweigh or reclass fees.
- Simple documentation streamlines seasonal moves for dealers, farm co-ops, and rental fleets.
