How to Determine Your Class
To find the correct freight class for your shipment:
- List “Aluminum folding pickup bed covers, NMFC 192995, Class 100” on the BOL and include the count of boxes for clean audits.
- Use strong corrugated cartons; pad hinge and latch edges, and wrap aluminum panels to avoid scuffs or vibration rub during transit.
- For multi-box orders, place cartons flat on a pallet, add edge protectors under straps, and mark Do Not Stack if crush ratings are low.
- Provide per-box weight and dimensions for accurate LTL quotes and capacity planning, even though the class is fixed at 100.
Note: All classifications are subject to Item 170. Verify with official NMFC publications for the most current requirements.
Business Value
- Fixed Class 100 simplifies quoting and reduces reclass or inspection fees tied to density disputes.
- Durable aluminum, folding design ships compactly, cutting handling risk and damage claims versus bulky rigid alternatives.
- Boxed or palletized options fit dealer replenishment and e-commerce returns, accelerating dock turns and throughput.
- Non-hazardous status avoids hazmat surcharges and expands carrier choices for faster routing.
