Notes
Note 63596: NOTE-Applies on inflatable or air-supported enclosures, structures or promotional or advertising figures or images, and on amusements, such as games, bouncers, rides or slides for use at outdoor picnics, birthday parties, fund-raising or promotional events or other such festivities.
How to Determine Your Class
To find the correct freight class for your shipment:
- Match the sub-item correctly: advertising figures/enclosures versus amusement rides or slides to determine whether Class 125 or 150 applies on the BOL.
- Prep the PVC/vinyl: dry, sweep-clean, then roll along seam lines. Bag the piece to keep grit out, and place in a double‑wall box or a sturdy crate; pack blowers, cords, stakes, and anchors in separate labeled packages.
- Prevent punctures and seam stress: line crates/boxes with smooth sheeting, avoid metal bands touching the fabric, pad corners, fill voids, and mark Do Not Clamp for clamp-truck facilities.
- Document clearly: list “deflated inflatable, blower packed separately/with unit” and NMFC 63595 on the BOL, include piece counts (e.g., 2 boxes + 1 crate), and photograph the packout for claims support.
Note: All classifications are subject to Item 170. Verify with official NMFC publications for the most current requirements.
Business Value
- Accurate use of NMFC 63595 reduces reclass/rebill risk and stabilizes quotes across LTL carriers.
- Two sub-classes (125–150) let you capture lower freight costs when the correct item type applies.
- Boxed or crated presentation improves stackability, curbs additional handling fees, and cuts damage claims on puncture-prone vinyl.
- Nonhazardous status streamlines carrier acceptance and avoids hazmat surcharges or special paperwork.
